答案                     The Migration of White-collars
Recently an increasing number of white-collar workers are leaveing first-tier cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and [1] turning their eyes to medium or small cities, or go back to their hometowns where life is easier and more comfortable. [2] Few issues today call forth a more heated discussion than the homecoming tide. Some people maintain that the metropolitan cities are gradually losing their fascination and that office workers are justified to leave big cities. I am totally [3] in sympathy with this view. There is something positive in the homecoming tide.
As is known to all, big cities teem with college graduates who can’t afford a house and have to live in a confined dormitory. They don’t have a sense of belonging at the present. [4] Nor do they entertain the slightest hope of buying a house of their own in a few years. Therefore, these people are always plagued by the housing problem. In addition, according to a recent online survey, 76 percent of white-collars working in metropolises suffer from [5] sub-health and nearly 60 percent are [6] overfaugued. The underlying reason for this phenomenon is [7] as clear as day: talents in first-tier cities vie with each other to [8] hold down their high-paying jobs, they [9] grind away at work and spare no time for leisure and entertainment. On the contrary, small cities and towns have soaring demand for white-collar workers and can afford fat salaries to them in recent years. Last but not least, [10] coupled with second-tier cities’ increasing demand for talents is the shrinking pay gap between first-tier cities and second-tier cities. The salary growth rate in tier-two cities is higher than that in tier-one cities within the same period.
Therefore, rather than [11] casting away your youth in a rented tiny flat, spending about two hours commuting every day, visiting your parents in your hometown once or twice a year, and having [12] nodding acquaintances but no real friends, you’d have no hesitation in moving to small or medium-sized cities which are characterized by a slow pace of life and profusion of opportunities.
