The Pentagon has admitted that US forces supplied thousands of tons of toxic defoliant Agent Orange to South Korea (Rok) in 1968 and 1969. A Pentagon spokesman says South Korean soldiers sprayed Agent Orange and other plant-killing chemicals along the demilitarized zone separating North and South Korea. He says the US supplied the defoliants, (and) did not do any of the spraying. The admission comes after South Korean media reported that about 7,000 South Korean soldiers applied the chemicals without using any protective gear. Agent Orange was widely used by US forces in Vietnam and is now blamed for causing cancer.
