Chinese and Russian national Olympic committees reached an agreement to help each other surpass the Americans’ medal count at the 2008 Beijing Gaines.
   Russian Olympic Committee chief Leonid Tyagachev said the two countries should unite their efforts and knowledge to achieve better results in swimming and track and field.
   According to the agreement, the two sides will cooperate in training athletes, sharing advanced sports equipment and medical care.
   The United States led the standings at last year’s Athens Olympics with 35 gold placements and an overall tally of 103 medals. China was second with 32 gold and 63 medals total while Russia had 27 gold and 92 total medals.
