答案                     Improving Roads or Improving Public Transportation?
     Roads and public transportation are both important in the public life. However, if a choice has to be made between spending money on improving the roads or improving public transportation, I would choose the--latter because it has some advantages over the former.
     Since most people in China do not have private vehicles, good public transportation, buses, trains and subways, is very important for the success of both individuals and a city. Without efficient means of transportation, people will waste a great deal of time going to and from work. This will make them tired and less productive in their jobs. Good public transportation will encourage more people to use it rather than drive private cars. This will reduce the total amount of traffic on the roads and make travel quicker for every one. Good transportation saves energy and reduces pollution. A bus which carries 60 people is a far more efficient use of energy and less emission of waste gases than 60 individual cars driving on the same route.
     In one word, good public transportation makes a city cleaner, more efficient and more convenient. I think the above reasons are sufficient to prove that public transportation is worthy of every penny spent on it.
