M: Yes, I’m phoning about a job you advertised in this morning’s paper. You need a trainee salesperson.
W: Oh, yes. Could I have your name, please?
M: Yes, it’s ..., it’s Tom White.
W: Oh yes, urn, how old are you, Tom?
M: Seventeen, Madam.
W: Well, still at school?
M: Yes. I’m in year 11 at Washington High School.
W: And what subjects are you doing?
M: Well, Chinese, Maths, Commercial and Legal Studies, Accountancy and History.
W: Er, and have you had any holiday jobs or anything like that?
M: Yes, of course. I worked at the Discount Supermarket in West Street, during the Christmas holidays.
W: Ok, I see. And do you think you’d make a good salesman?
M: Yes, I think so.
W: Fine, Tom. Could you come in for an interview, say 2:30 p.m. on Friday?
M: Yes, Madam.
W: Good. We’re on the 14th floor of the Trump Building in Plaza Street. And could you bring your birth certificate and your last school report with you?
