      Blessed by the rapid development of modem technology, people now would be able to enjoy a larger variety of cheap food. Unfortunately, the improved methods have brought great benefits as well as risks that may threaten human health and society.
     Firstly, the safety of fertilized crops, vegetables and fruits is highly doubted. Admittedly, the adoption of fertilizers dramatically increased productivity and to some extent resolve the problem of starvation. However, a recent study has found such diseases as cancer and mental disorder had much to do with fertilizers used in farming. Similarly, pesticides on vegetables or fruits can hardly be removed completely and the residues become toxic to human body.
     These advanced methods also produced adverse impact on our living environment. Consumption of fuels and emission of gases by the farming machines may pollute the once clean and fresh air of countryside. Fertilizers could probably penetrate into soil, destroy microbe, and even change texture of it, which is by no means beneficial to soil conservation or the sustaining of ecological system.
     Besides, with machinery releasing people from burden of traditional manual work .and labor, country residents swarm into city to pursue better career development, which makes the already tight employment situation even worse. Furthermore, the increasingly large population in the city could lead to other social problems such as housing, traffic, medical care, education, and etc.
     To conclude, despite the progressive aspect of improved fertilizer and better machinery, we must be fully aware of the potential dangers produced, and make effort to eliminate the side effects so that the technology could serve human better.
