     Family has a great influence on one’s personal development. One born of a happy family tends to be cheerful and optimistic. One brought up in an unhappy family, on the contrary, may grow up miserable and pessimistic. If a child is not loved by his or her family, he or she may not learn to love others. This will greatly hinder the child’s personality.
     A family should be a place where we can get warmth, help, comfort, and strength. It should also be a source of laughter, as laughter is a good means to lessen the tension and pres- sure we all face in our daily lives. A family should be the place where we cultivate our self-improvement and self-confidence.  This is crucial to our further development and our mental health. Contrarily, if quarrels frequently arise in a family, a child cannot feel ease at home; if parents lead a loose life, children will be led astray. Family is normally considered by scientists as the first classroom for children, and parents their most direct teachers. Therefore, the role of family in one’s personal development cannot be overemphasized.
     Since family plays a very important role in our lives, every member is obliged to contribute to the construction of a happy family. Everyone should be considerate and understanding in the family. Everyone should know that he exists not only for himself, but for others as well, and should love and show concern for each other. People should strive to establish a happy family. After all, a happy family contributes to the build-up of a harmonious and stable society.
