    As can be seen in the picture, two astronauts arrive at a new planet, only to find bare stumps. They feel sorry to say that, "We are late; all the forests on this planet have been cut down." This picture offers a reminder that we should cherish forests before it is too late. The valuable resources, once it is destroyed, would be very difficult to restore.
    Therefore, the protection of forests is so important that we should never neglect it. First of all, forests benefit our life greatly. For instance, a forest is usually compared to "the lung" in the local area, which helps clear the air. Besides, the forest is also helpful in preventing soils from being washed out. Despite its immense value, forest is sometimes destroyed to make way for industrial crops or property development. I think this is a rather short-sighted decision, as we are making money at the expense of our future environment. Natural disasters incurred by soil erosion and sand storms will follow the loss of forests.
    In short, we should protect forests to ensure a sustainable future for many generations to come. Otherwise they will have to seek another planet with forests to live on, as the picture shows.
