Elvis Aaron Presley was born in a two-room house in Tupelo, Mississippi on January 8, 1935. His(21)twin brother, Jessie Garcon, died at birth. This left Elvis to grow up as an only child. He and his parents moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1948. Elvis(22)graduated from Hums High School in Memphis in 1953.
    Elvis’ musical(23)influence was pop and country music, gospel music and the(24)black rhythm and blues he heard on historic Beale Street in Memphis. In 1954, he began his singing career at the famous Sun Studio in Memphis. By 1956, he was an(25)international sensation. His sound combined different musical styles and challenged the(26)social and racial barrier of the time. He began a new era of American music and popular culture.
    He starred in 33 successful films, made history with his television appearance, and performed many(27)live concerts on tour and Las Vegas. Globally, he has sold over one billion records, more than any other artists. His American sales have earned him more(28)awards than any other artist or group.
