         She is hoping to be chosen as "Antwerp Artist of the Year" with her paintings and sculptures.She entered the college two years ago at the age of sixteen.She has been painting and sculpting since she was eight years old.She was interested in painting and sculpting at that time because she could express her thoughts in her works.She was determined to be an artist in the future when she was very young.
         To enter the "Antwerp Artist of the Year" competition, she has to present two paintings and one three-dimensional piece.While studying at the college she has completed twenty paintings using various media-oils, watercolours, acrylics and pen-and-ink.She has also produced a collection of wood and metal sculptures representing changes in the technical world over the last fifty years.Although her favourite sculpture is called "Space Rocket", she feels that this is not the one to choose for the competition, so she has decided to send in "Machine Mind" instead.

         Her paintings for the competition, both watercolours, will be from her collection "Friends" , and she has chosen "Julie" , a portrait of her best friend Julie Vasey, who is her classmate and likes to read romantic novels.Jeanne is not interested in romantic novels, but she added beauty to the painting and painted such a vivid portrait.Her second choice is a view of Herentals, the town where she grew up.It is called simply "Home".
         If she wins the competition she will get an opportunity for her paintings or sculpture to be shown in galleries all over Europe.There is also a cash prize of 2,000 euros.This would help her to continue working as an artist after leaving college, and also to fulfill her ambition to start a painting workshop for young children.
         The competition rules require the paintings and sculpture to be ready for collection on either 17 or 19 July, and the organisers will contact the college to set a convenient time.Jeanne needs to give the name of her art teacher, Mrs V.Benet, whose contact telephone number is 571-9300, extension 403.The college is at 27 Tervurenlaan in Antwerp.Alternatively, entrants may, if they prefer, deliver their own artworks to the organisers during the weekend of 14 and 15 July.In this case, they should go to the Kattenberg Studio at 5 Avenue Boitsfort, Antwerp, between 10 a.m.and 4 p.m.on either day.After consulting Mrs Bemet, Jenne has decided to ask for her artworks to be collected from the college on the first of the two possible dates.
