Top universities have been called on to publish lists of "banned" A-level subjects that may have prevented thousands of state school pupils getting on to degree courses.
The lists are said to【C1】______subjects such as law, art and design, business studies and drama—subjects primarily【C2】______by comprehensives rather than private schools. Teachers accused universities【C3】______putting comprehensive pupils at a【C4】______by refusing to publish their lists. Some【C5】______the lists were a filter (过滤器) that enabled the most【C6】______universities to accept more private school pupils than state-educated ones.
Private school pupils are three times more【C7】______to score the highest grade than comprehensive pupils,【C8】______30% of the total number of "A" grades when their pupils【C9】______for just 14% of entries. But even the brightest state school pupils,【C10】______a string of "A" grades, stand little【C11】______of a place at a top university this year if they have taken one or more of the A-level subjects【C12】______the banned lists.
John Bangs said he strongly【C13】______that there was a single unofficial list of banned subjects. "The list is built on the【C14】______that these subjects are easier than others and not【C15】______enough." he said. However, Wendy Piatt, director general of the Russell Group, said no Russell Group university block【C16】______any A-level subject. "University websites typically include details on ’essential’ and ’preferred’ A-levels to help students【C17】______their chances of gaining entry to competitive degree courses," he said. " Most【C18】______very clear and comprehensive information on required A-level subjects and which ones will not be considered when making【C19】______decisions. Students would be well advised to take very careful note of such【C20】______" [br] 【C9】
选项
A、consisted
B、comprised
C、reached
D、accounted
答案
D
