    Everybody respects and trusts an honest man．He speaks the truth and acts in good faith. Through hard labour，he succeeds in his career．Whenever hard pressed for money，food， whatever，he won’t bow down before temptation．Zhu Zi-qing，a famous scholar and professor in Tsinghau University，was such a man．To him death was preferable to receiving American benefaction at the sacrifice of his unyielding spirits and patriotism．Some think him“stupid， obstinate…”“Why not make use of the opportunity to live on，then spit in America’s face later?” It is strategy．Death means everything is over．What is more，life is precious；honesty is useless. An ambitious man should concern himself with big jobs, not trifles. American food and Chinese food are the same thing. Just food!
    A man who has honey on his lips privately finagles ways to earn extra thousands. Whenever there is a chance to speak in public, he seems refreshed and announces proudly "I act fairly without any intent to violate the rules of society." If necessary, he may give to charity to distract the resentment of the mass. "See, how much money I contribute..." That really works. But what about those who know the foundation of his career and property? That is easy. They either become his friend or his foe. Their rival is skillful in dealing with both, for money can pave his way to wherever he pleases, while honesty can do nothing for you. This is his logic, his truth, his life. Does he ever dream once of the doomed day when his kingdom may topple down and nothing is left but shame?
