    I’m an English teacher in the English department of ABC University in China. I’m writing to apply for being a visiting scholar in your department. Having taught English for many years and gained my honors in the teaching career, however, as far as I am concerned, I’m far from perfect. I think that a further study in the West is needed to improve my English in order that I do better in my work. Because of your prestige and good studying environment, I do believe it will be an excellent choice to have a further study. As for my living expenses, our university has determined to give me the financial support.
    I would appreciate it very much if you are willing to accept me to be a visiting scholar of your university and I am looking forward to your early reply.
