问题     Some people believe that the Earth is being harmed (damaged) by human activity. Others that human activity makes the Earth a better place to live. What is your opinion?

答案             The Earth Is Being Harmed by Human Activity
    Recent times we have witnessed the improvement of our life as well as deterioration of our environment. The truth is we; the residents on the earth are damaging it with our own hands due to our greed and short-sightedness.
    First of all, for a long time, we have failed to realize that the resources on earth are limited. Exhausting mining activities devastates the whole regions, leaving nothing but bare ground. Deforestation removes old trees that can’t be replaced. Too much fishing may harm fish resources to the point where they can’t recover. Second, population growth drives the urbanization process. There is a new shopping area on every corner and new houses, townhouses and apartments everywhere. Traffic gets worse and worse because planners can’t keep up with growth. Third, growth comes with pollution. Companies and communities dump waste into water. Landfills are full of trash. Emissions from factories pollute the air. Barrels of industrial waste and radioactive waste have no safe place to go. If we take no heed of the warnings, our planet will go beyond repair.
    People need to respect the Earth and try to preserve it. If we don’t, what kind of future will we have?
