Feeble recovery in the U. S. and European economies plagued by tensions in the Middle East, limited Japan’s hopes for an export-led recovery. One bright spot was employment, with the number of new job offers showing a rising trend, the report said. But that was outweighed by an ongoing decline in wages. Japan has been battling a slowdown for more than a decade, and Monday’s report noted with concern the weakness of Japanese stock prices. Tokyo stocks have been hovering around 19-year lows.
