Veteran British designer Katharine Hamnett took a sobering anti-war stand on the occasion of London Fashion Week on Tuesday, sending her models down the catwalk in "Stop War" T-shirts. Hamnett was determined to speak out in protest against U. S. and British preparations for a possible war against Iraq over its alleged possession of weapons of mass destruction. "I’m saying to people: ’Use the little shreds of democracy that you’ve got left to save yourselves before it’s too late’ ". On Saturday a massive anti- war rally began in central London, drawing almost one million people, Britain’s largest ever street protest.
