    From the table we can see the change of the number of people applying for prostrate admission. As indicated by the figures, the number of people applying for prostrate admission increases dramatically from 0.46 million in 2001 to 1.282 million in 2007, which has almost trebled the number in a short period of six years!
    The reasons for these dramatic, in my opinion, mainly involve two aspects, i.e. too many college undergraduates and the scarcity of working opportunity. As it is known to all, with the expansion of college recruitment in the past few years, more and more high school graduates have been enrolled into colleges and universities in China. Consequently they pose a severe pressure to the employment upon graduation. Since there are not so many working posts, they have to study as prostrates. This is very clearly shown from the net increase of 2002-2006, with 2005 being the greatest increase.
    However, the situation began to change since 2006. Although there were still increases in number, the pace apparently slowed down. Especially in 2007, the figure is very close to that of the previous year.
