Nowadays, abbreviation has enjoyed increasing popularity among young people while some old people complain that our language has been ruined by abbreviation. In my opinion, as a coin with two sides, abbreviation has both positive and negative effects on our communication.
    On the one hand, abbreviation makes communication quicker and simpler, and many people think that is very cool. However, on the other hand, the demerits of abbreviation are also obvious. Firstly, it deepens the generation gap between the old and the young. Moreover, abbreviation is prone to cause misunderstanding since one abbreviation could have several different interpretations.
    To conclude, despite the convenience and popularity of abbreviation, we should bear it in mind that we are supposed to use abbreviation rationally and appropriately in our communication.
