    Students tend to use the Internet more and more frequently nowadays. The chart shows that the average number of hours a student spends on the Net per week has increased dramatically. For example, in 1995, it was less than 2 hours, in 2000, it increased to almost 4 hours, and in 2004, the number climbed to about 18 hours per week.
    There are several reasons behind this phenomenon. First, easy access to the Net attracts more and more students. Obviously, the rapid spread of personal computers, telephones and Internet cafes make it easy to go online. In addition, the Internet facilitates many aspects of life such as communicating via E- mail and chat-room on line.
    However, there still exist some problems. What troubles schools a lot is the harmful materials and false information, which will surely adversely affect students’ healthy development. Besides, online charges may be too expensive for students to pay, adding great financial burden to their families. What’s worse, some students indulge in’ computer games and the virtual world, resulting in their failure in the academic work.
    My advice is to use the Internet but do it properly.
