In our city, one square kilometre accommodates thousands of people, while in many medium-sized or small cities, less than a thousand people live in one square kilometre.
　　There’re many reasons that cause the problem and the most noticeable one is the centralization of industry. Most of the prominent factories, offices and organisations flood in our city. People attracted by the businesses and job opportunities also keep coming here to earn a living. Besides, the high unemployment and low salary in other cities are also factors resulting in the overpopulation.
　　Frankly, quite a few problems also arise because of it. Heavy traffic has become a common scenario and that has had a bad effect on the air quality of the city. What’s more, the temperature in the city centre remains high, especially in the summer. You can actually refer to its weather as boiling hot. Last but not least, too many people living in the same place also generates excessive waste. For the environment, these are no doubt heavy burdens.
　　To solve this major problem, the government should take action as soon as possible. First and foremost, decentralisation should come into effect. Industries and factories that can be relocated should be moved promptly. What’s more, economy, employment and education should be promoted locally so that people can gain their living and be educated in their own city rather than swarming into big cities. If these strategies can be carried out throughout the nation, I believe that the problem can be solved.
