1) The Department intends that full-time graduate students in good standing have access to adequate financial support for the expected duration of their program, which is:
2) Continued support is contingent upon satisfactory progress in coursework, research and scholarship towards a degree, as well as satisfactory performance of duties and is dependent upon Department budget constraints.
3) Full-time thesis-based MSc students will be guaranteed Graduate Assistantship Teaching funding for two years (subject to item 2 above). PhD students will be guaranteed Graduate Assistantship Teaching funding for at least three years (subject to item 2 above).
4) Additional Departmental funding in the form of Graduate Research Scholarships and top-ups will be awarded on a competitive basis.
5) Students who hold major scholarships and/or top-up awards will typically be eligible for nun-GAT Departmental support only up a specified ceiling for the total of scholarships and Department funding. This ceiling is currently $29,300 for MSc students and $34,100 for PhD students.
These guidelines will be reviewed from time to time by the Graduate Studies Committee.
