                                        Are Surveillance Cameras Good?
    There are many uses for a home, keeping technology being wonderful; it makes sense to look into home surveillance to safeguard your residence from intruders, and not to mention to help you see who’s at the door.
    The main benefit of installing a home surveillance camera is to prevent theft so that you could give the recorded information to authorities in order to help them catch the thief. Additionally, if you have visible home surveillance, often this can be well enough to deter thieves and make them not enter your home in any respect.
    However, the biggest disadvantage of camera and wiretap surveillance is the perceived invasion of privacy. Although wiretaps require legal authorization from a judge, some may bypass this legality and tap a line without permission. This is an invasion of privacy. In addition, some view being on camera as an invasion of privacy, whether in the workplace or on a public street.
    Another disadvantage of this type of surveillance is the potential for unreliable information. This is more common in wiretapping, where a lot of unnecessary information is often overheard. This information can lead to false leads and may result in a waste of resources.

    In today’s digital age, surveillance cameras which now line many public streets and workplace locations in an attempt to monitor activities and law enforcement agencies continue to use wiretapping to aid in investigations. Although this is becoming more commonplace, just as the given excerpt shows, there are both advantages and disadvantages to use this technology.
    Using surveillance cameras potentially increases security in the areas where they reside. As is shown in the first part of the excerpt, such cameras act as a deterrent. For example, cameras installed on public streets or homes may deter would-be criminals from acting out. In addition, even if a criminal activity does take place, the surveillance cameras may provide the needed evidence to make an arrest. Therefore, cameras seem to help us know what is happening around us.
    However, surveillance cameras also have some disadvantages. As is illustrated in the second part of the excerpt, cameras installed record everything about us and may invade our privacy. Also, without a good shooting angle or weather or other disadvantaged factors, surveillance cameras sometimes do not provide us reliable information, even worse, sometimes misleading information, thus they could create new problems.
    Therefore, the installation of surveillance cameras can help us monitor our environment at home or in the workplace while it can also cause the loss of privacy or mislead us into false judgments. So it is better to have a second thought before one decides to use one.
