答案    We have been taught not to lie and to be honest since childhood. However, in our daily lives we still have to tell white lies from time to time.
   From my viewpoint, white lies are indispensable in certain circumstances. The reasons are as follows. Firstly, white lies bring harmony to our lives sometimes. When a friend gives us a gift and asks us if we are fond of it, it is better to say yes even if we do not feel very contented. Secondly, sometimes white lies help people achieve success. Forest Gump was born mentally deficient. However, his mother used white lies to encourage him. She told him that he was not different from other normal kids. That eventually made Forest a national hero.
   To sum up, white lies help us avoid embarrassment and raise others’ confidence. Indeed honesty is an important virtue, but white lies, in some cases, should be tolerated.
